Interesting building. What is going on with it. Renovations or demolishing?

Hello Deepak and Andy. I find this building beautiful and stark and interesting! But it's just falling into disrepair - with a notice outside saying 'To Let'! Some parts, less dilapidated, do seem to have been let out as office space. You can see an adjoining section in my photo of the red car.

There are loads of these huge buildings in my new home town of Halifax (UK) and the area round and about. Some have been renovated and are quite vibrant work-places but there are so many others are just left to decay. There's a view of another on my blog 'Loose and Leafy in Halifax'.

(I started a new 'Loose and Leafy' blog when I moved from coastal Dorset to urban West Yorkshire.)

I wonder if it's too late to save it.

Such a stark contrast, decay and bright red!

I always feel slightly sad at seeing old buildings left to rot; a lot of them are disused since we moved on from industry to technology. In London they'd be snapped up for flats!

Hello William. About this mill . . . I think there may be some parts savable but others not. It's a small part of quite a large acreage which used to accommodate at least two mills - one of which burned down. I'm not sure what it could be used for as it's not in a fashionable part of town - which is something which perplexes me. Masses of large stores are clustered there (for food, furniture, electricals . . . even clothes ) so you'd think it would be a popular place to live because you could walk to the shops instead of going by car. But there's a lot of light industry, warehousing, those kinds of things too so . . .

Hello Caro. It's very sad. This is not the only such building in Halifax in this kind of condition. Some have been saved and are being used but I'm not sure there's enough money or enough need to translate them all. The council seems to have a lot of will though and lots of things are on the move - so maybe a company will some time arrive with the capital for saving more. I imagine the view from the top must be pretty interesting.
